The "Miracle Family"!!!!!!

HOLA FAMILIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Let me just start out by saying I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!  Mom gave in for the I-Phone!  CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) hahahahaha  If you weren't cooler than me before, you officially are!  We pretend we have an I-Phone because there is a little flashlight on our phone... but you know that is the end of it ;) hahahaha  I THINK YOU CAN CALL THE SUTTON FAM THE I-PHONE FAM!!!!!!!!!! hahaha

This week was a great one and well the time is zooming by....  I don't even want to think that we are almost in OCTOBER!!!!!!!  That just scares me to death.  I feel like I have done so much in my mission but then I also feel like I have done nothing ;)  But we are loving it, and learning a ton and having a million experiences (crazy and spiritual) and just about every other kind.

But before I go on to this week, I just want to tell you a little about the week that we had last week.  First of all, we met a "MIRACLE FAMILY!"  I think I mentioned them a little bit the last week; they are Rafaela and Jose and their daughter Suri.  They have only been here in Juarez for about 1 month and they came here with absolutely nothing.   It has just been a miracle that they are still here and have their house.  The day that we met them (in the street) he had not had work for almost a week.... (he is a mechanic) and we told him that this is the gospel of miracles and that if he puts in his effort he is going to see miracles.  Well needless to say he has had A TON of work the past 2 weeks and his smile could take the frown off of the face of anyone!  They are accepting the gospel like it was a plate of chocolate ice cream and just keep asking for more and more!!!!  Rafaela has been going to ALL of the relief society activities and fits in perfect with the hermanas.  They went to the activity that we had with the ward and they were also the miracle family that showed up to church randomly.  We are working really hard with them to keep progressing and seeing the miracles that God has in store for them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, well I can't remember what else I was going to tell you from last week!  SORRY!!!!!!  THE THINGS JUST ROLE TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha  But I have been writing in my journal and so one day you will hear of all the stories!!!!!!!!!!  But here are your questions from last week...

1- Can you paint your fingernails?
YEAH, but only like really pastel - things you can't really see!  But a little! hahaha

2- Do you still have your coats etc. from last winter?
Yeah, I saved everything!!!  And Hermana Jacobo left me her other coat that is better than mine!  I think I will be set!!!!

3- Are any of the male missionaries down there attractive?
GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahahaha  OH but from this week....  Also on Saturday was the Women’s Conference....  It was kind of a mess to finally watch it.  But we saw the last half!  I was astonished by the talk of Elder Uchdorf. We are all children of God and the amazing thing is that He loves us so much.  He knows our mistakes and He knows our weaknesses and trials and yet HE LOVES US, AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I know that He lives, and I can't wait to see Him again.  I know He is saving a place for me up there in the big house, and I know that I can make it there.  THE GOSPEL IS WHAT SHOWS US WHAT WE NEED TO DO!!!!!!  We have everything to have success in this life, and the life to come!!!!

I love you all so very much and you all had better be saying your prayers and reading your scriptures and preparing for CONFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR INVESTIGATORS SO THAT THEY CAN COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):):):):)

Have a great week!

Hermana SUTTON!!!!!

p.s.  Sometimes I still find myself thinking, wow I am a missionary!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!  I think it is a sin to sing... “I hope they call me on a mission”!!!  WE ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

"16 de Septiembre" Festivities

VIVA MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This week was quite the patriotic one!!!!!!!  WE PARTIED HARD!!!!!!!! ;) hahahaha  Okay, well the missionaries "party hard".  There were a lot of activities in the ward and well, of course, “16 de Septiembre” was awesome!!!!!   We feel like we are more Mexican than a lot of the Mexicans here in Mexico!!!!! hahahaha

Let me first explain a little about our adventures that we had on the last Monday!!!  We got to go the El Centro... which isn't usual for the sister missionaries, but we have hook-ups so we got to go and see what the fuss was!!  And it was quite indeed a blast!  It is really busy and there are a ton of people!!  We went primarily to see the huge Catholic cathedral that is there, but we also did a little booth shopping and just trying to fit in. "hahahaha"  It was a blast and so good to be doing something unusual!!!!!  So the cathedral is huge and it is a little scary... but really pretty!  You felt weird inside of it, but that would just be because the spirit isn't there!  But it was cool to see and sneak to take pictures (that might be a sin... woops)  Also, when we were headed back from the “Centro” we stopped to take pictures at the temple!!!!  ITWAS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE SEEN THE TEMPLE HERE!!!!!!  IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So we went a little crazy in taking pictures, but you never know... it may be the last time we get to see it!!!!!  BUT I LOVED IT!  Even being on the ground outside you can feel the power of that amazing place!!!!!!!!!!!  Then we came back for our district meeting and then we went to a sister’s house (an investigator) and she taught us how to make mole verde!!!!!!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM   THAT STUFF IS SUPER GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Some day if you guys are lucky I will make it for you!!!!!  But you know it won't be as good because we will be in the United States!!!! hahahahah  BUT PICTURES TO COME FROM THAT TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then there was “16 de Septiembre” and we dressed up in the colors of the Mexican flag...  IT WAS A GOOD CONVERSACION STARTER IN THE STREET!!!!!!!! hahahaha  and we ate real real Mexican food at a members house!!!!  We found an amazing hermana, but I don't have time to tell you about her today!!!!!!  NEXT WEEK!!

SORRY, I REALLY HAVE NO TIME TO WRITE!!!!!!!  But also this week we had a TARDE MEXICANA!!!!!!!  It was on Saturday and we all dressed up and went to the church and ate tacos and had karaoke and the primary did a little play!!!!!!  AND OUR INVESTIGATORS WENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was a miracle!!!!!!!!!!  I think that we had about 13 non-members there!!!!!!  WHICH IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEN YESTERDAY WE HAD A THE MOST AMAZING MIRACLE AT CHURCH!!!!!!!!!  So two of our new investigators went to the party on Saturday night, but there car broke down and they couldn't get it to start, so they left it at the church to try and fix later.  So in the morning they got to the church and it wouldn’t work still...  so I told them to have faith and come to an hour of church and then we will try again (they weren't planning on coming anyways)  They went to an hour!  And well, the car started right up afterwards!!!!!  They took it to their house and then came back to stay for the other 2 hours because they knew it was a miracle from the Lord!!!!!!!!  THEY ARE INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!  AND I WISH YOU COULD MEET THEM!!!!!!!!  The Lord's timing and ways are perfect!  Don't you dare think that there are coincidences in this life!!!!!  HIS PLAN IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!

Sorry fam and friends, but we have to go and I have about a million trillion things I want to tell you!!!  But I’ll try and remember them for next week!!!!!  I love you all and am always praying for you!!!!  But I know that the Lord is taking care of you!

WITH A LOT OF LOVE

Hermana Sutton

The Weather's a Changing.....

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  THAT CAR HITCH IS THE GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It is true that I do indeed have the COOOOOLEST familia en todo el mundo!  WOW les amo mucho!  Where in the world did Jennifer find that??  My companion thinks that her family needs one like it!!!! ;)  Wow!!  I just can't get enough of it, that is the best!!! :)

As of St. George!!!  And little mermaid!!!!!!!!!  WHAT!!!!!???  You had better enjoy it for me!!!!! :(  Make sure that you take lots of pictures, and send me some every once in a while....  I have forgotten what my family looks like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well as for our week - I think that sky is about to fall here in Juarez!!  IT WAS COLD THIS WEEK!!!!  I even wore a sweater, and a scarf...can you believe it?? (pictures to come) hahaha  Pretty much all day Friday and Saturday it rained and was a little windy!  We are praying that the heat has left and that the sweater scarf season is here!!!  (Ojala que si)  But it was a good week; we saw some more progression with our investigators that we have, but as for new ones!!! - your prayers are needed ;) hahaha  Everyday is an adventure and we are loving it; I think Hermana Anderton thinks I am crazy (surprise) but we really have a lot of fun together!!!!

Let’s start with questions this week!!!

1.       Do you run every morning or just P-Day mornings?
EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Menos los domingos!!!!!!!!!  And we are getting faster (well at least that is what Andy says....)  But hopefully we are not just getting faster, but that we are getting skinnier too!!!!  Wouldn't that be a miracle!!!! ;)

2.       How big is your stake/ward in Juarez?
Our ward is little!!!  But so great!!!  We though, had a ton of people there yesterday!!!  It was 80 and they hadn't seen that in a LONG time!!!  (The members told us to slow down the work, because there isn't enough room in the church house.) hahahah  YEAH RIGHT!!!  ARE THEY CRAZY!!!!!!???????

3.       Ridden the wrong bus lately?
NO THANK GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We are Mexicans - did you forget!!!  We now know all the drug dealers and police officers so we find our way around pretty well!

4.       How old are you going to be next month?
Not a teenager anymore? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH can you believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I told my companion she has to rub my feet for my birthday present...  She said it’s a deal (but we will see if she actually keeps to her promise) hahahaha  But it is a little weird to think about, right??  Your baby isn't such a baby anymore!  She is almost 20 running around in the drug cartel, speaking a different language, and looking more like a Mexican everyday!  (Are you sure I am a Sutton still!????)  hahahahaha

So one little story.... so we are teaching the neighbors of the bishop who are two youth and their mom!  We have a super good relationship with them and they are really seeing miracles in their lives from the gospel!  Especially the youth!  The other day we went to teach them a lesson with Hermana Bencomo (wife of the bishop) and just Ana and Luis were there! (the youth)  So we taught about the “Book of Mormon” and how amazing it was and how the prayer has the most powerful effect!  When Ana stops us and says, you know when you asked me to pray about Jose Smith, well I did!  And I know that he really was a prophet!  I just couldn't reject it!  I felt this overcoming peace all through my body!!!!!!  (ANA IS 11 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!)  Can you believe it!!!!!!!!!!  We explained that she was exactly right and that this was her answer!!!!!  She now tells us about everything she doesn't know she prays about and gets an answer!!!  (WHAT AN EXAMPLE RIGHT??? AN 11 YEAR OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )  She and her brother both came to church yesterday, and are loving it!!!!  But the problem is there mom; she is super Catholic!  But the youth I think are going to hold strong!  And soon enough their mom will want to join in a little more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But Ana really is such an example to me.  Age doesn't matter; God works the same way for all of his children!!!!
OH also, just an update!!!  Lamar went to a baptism the ward had on Saturday and we had a great lesson about the plan of salvation yesterday with Diana and him!!!!!!!!!  WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEIR FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are loving life here in Juarez Mexico!!!!!!!!  Don't worry about us two white girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Just make sure you guys are making the best out of every situation.  We are only here in this life once; we have to make the VERY best of it!!  For heaven’s sake, it is the time to prepare to meet God, there is nothing more important than that!!!  I like to ask myself at the end of every day, “do I feel more prepared to return to the presence of God...??”  If not, WELL.... I best work my hinny off tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love you guys with all of my heart and all of my soul!!!!!!!  I miss you, but I have the surest testimony that I am here so that other families can live for eternity just like we will! :)  Keep the smiles going and remember who  you are and who you stand for!!!!!!!!!

"I'd Rather Die than Run a Marathon"

HEY FAMILIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow Peach Days have come and gone and still no peach cobbler for this sister...  I think that is a little problem!  But then also a great excuse to eat double the helping next year!  Sounds good to me!!!  Crazy to think about next year! AHHHHHHH  I won't be a missionary :(  I think that is a little problem!  This was my plan...  I am going to come home and then change my identity!  (I have met some friends here that can help me) and then tell them that I am 19 again so I can send my papers in and head out again!  Think about it!!  I could learn another language!!! HAHHAHA  Sound good to you guys!!!??  I LOVE THE MISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This week was a great one!!!  First of all a shout out to VALYNN for her amazing package of goodies this week!!!  “WE LOVED IT!!!”  and also to GRANDMA REVA AND SHIRLEY MORRIS!!!!  We love getting mail!!  THANK YOU - THANK YOU!!!!!  It always gives us a little boost to keep going on!!!  And a little sugar rush!!  (You taught me well, mom.)

1.        Did you get transferred or get a new companion?
NAH!!!  I don't think we will have transfers!!  She is still in her training and I talked to the President and I think that we are safe one more transfer!!  WE JUST HOPE AND PRAY IT IS TRUE!!!!!  She is awesome and is helping so much.  Her knowledge of the gospel is great so we make a good team; I teach Spanish and she helps me with the doctrine facts and all the cool stuff :)

2.       What food do you miss the most (besides peach cobbler?)
HMMMMM - I miss milkshakes!!!!  And just food made on the grill by daddy!!!  But the thing is, I don't think I am missing too much because my memory of the life before is really little.  IT IS WEIRD!!!  Sometimes my companion asks me about it and I honestly just can't remember!  What did I like to do, other than sports and singing?? hahahahah  I think I am becoming the boring missionaries!!! (hahahah OKAY not boring - just weird!)  We had to go to the mall really quick this week with one of the hermanas and OHHHH I felt so uncomfortable it was strange!!! hahahahaha  I know you probably are laughing your heads off!!!  But it is true!!!

3.     Can you beat your Companion running yet?
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!  SHE IS SUPER FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!  She is trying to talk me into running a marathon when we get back.  I honestly told her I would rather die than run a marathon!  ESPECIALLY with her!!  SHE WOULD KILL ME!!!!!!!!  26 miles is 26 too many!!!  Props to all you runners out there!!  Someone’s gotta do it!

4.       We’re getting together another package, what do you want/need?
HMMMMM PACKAGED!!!!!!  We have been thinking and well we are happy with ANYTHING!!!!!  You guys are always the greatest!!  But maybe some ideas!!!  Maybe a pedometer!  It would be cool to see how far we walk!  And also a HLJ ring - I said last week!  OHHH, and maybe a blazer or two!  We have to use them at all the meetings with the president.  OHHHHHHH and a NEED!!!!!!  My tennis shoes are torn into pieces!!  I have 4 holes in the bottoms!!  My companion has worn me and my shoes out of running!!! :) hahaha  But we are happy with anything and everything!!  New investigators also would be great!!!!  OHHH and also, my debit card is going to expire in October!!  (Sorry, I forgot to tell you guys!!!!!!)  If you could call and get a new one that would be great!!!!

Okay just a little bit about my week!!!  We had interchanges and also a lot of meetings so we were out and about in Juarez!!!  The training was great!  And I am loving being a missionary and the life and the spirit!!!  It is just the greatest!!!!  I am learning so much and learning to find the little tiny blessings the Lord has blessed me with, not just the HUGE ones like the best family in the whole world!!!!!  BUT THE BEST THING ABOUT THE MISSION IS LEARNING AND GROWING CLOSER TO THE SAVIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!  There is a video that you need to watch!!!  It is called “BECAUSE OF HIM”!!!!!!!!!  (If you can put it on my blog that would be sweet) but I honestly couldn't explain how grateful I am for my Savior and everything that he has done for this girl!!!  I am truly and eternally indebted to Him!  But I know that when I do my best, it is great for HIM!!!!!!  I love Him and I know He lives!!!!!!!!!
Have a great week!!!!!!!!!!!!  I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  KEEP SAYING YOUR PRAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Crazies

Libertad?

Toothbrush story

I thought this would be funny to show our dentist!!! Let him know my teeth are clean and I am flossing everyday!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha

Ciudad Juarez

His whole house is filled with craziest and the coolest things

I'm Really in Hawaii & I Got 2 Tattoos - hahaha

Wow - can you already believe it??  We are in September and Peach Days is already here??  THAT IS CRAZY!!!!  Is the time going by super fast for you guys??  I feel like I just went to Peach Days a month ago!!!! ;) hahaha  But sounds like a ton of fun!!!!

First of all before I forget...  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SARAH (last week) AND TO ERIC!!!!  PARTY HARD FOR ME!!!! hahaha  OHHHHH... and make sure you eat some really tasty peach cobbler for me!!  That's one of the things I would die for... :)  But I hope everyone has a great week!!!!

Our week was really great too!!  It went by so fast; I feel like I don't have anything new to tell you guys, and then I feel like you know nothing about where I am or what I am really doing!!!  “I am actually on the beach in Hawaii getting a tan and drinking pina coladas with my companion.”  We decided that we needed a little break and we deserved a reward!  So off we went!  We walked across the border and found a really cheap flight to Hawaii and off we went!  So just so you know, we are happy and healthy and enjoying life!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - YEAH RIGHT!!!!   Okay... maybe not so much!  But it was a great week!  We found the cutest old grandpa that is really interested in the church!  (Age doesn't matter right??)  His name is Alejandro and we found him in the Street.  He yelled to us...  “WOW, THERE ARE SISTER MISSIONARIES!”  So of course we went and explained that the sister missionaries were way better than the elders!! ;) haha  We started talking to him and he is really receptive of the góspel and is keeping all of his commitments and praying and wow he really is great!!!!  (He couldn't come to church yesterday, but on Saturday night he waited at the church to find someone to tell them that he wouldn't be able to make it.)  I'm not justifying that it was good he didn't come, but at least he put some effort into telling us he wouldn't be able to make it!!!  We are really excited to put his baptismal date today!!!  PRAY FOR HIM!!!!

Hmmmm - what else did we do this week???  We are really trying to focus our energy on finding the people that are really interested in the góspel!!  I think a lot of people get confused in wanting to talk to the “white” girls... to wanting to draw closer to Christ!!!  But we are trying to help them out!! hahahaha :)  But I am loving being here in Mexico!  I am loving sharing the góspel!!  And I am loving the person that I am becoming!!!  I feel like I have more stories but I can't remember... oh well!  On to the questions from last week (sorry)

….1….  Is it warmer or cooler in Juarez than in Casas Grande?
IT IS WAY HOTTER!!!!!!!!!  I THINK IT IS BECAUSE OF THE PAVEMENT!!!! hahahahaha  But I think it is going to start cooling off one of these days ;) we hope!!!

….2….  Have you thought of any special things you would like for your birthday?  (it will be here before you know it!)
HMMMMMM - birthday???!!! Hahaha  I really am just happy!!!  I don't know what I would like!!! (INVESTIGATORS???) hahahaha  The only thing I could think of is maybe a CTR ring that is in Spanish! (HLJ)  but like a real one!  I think that would be sweet!  See what you can find!!  Other than that, I am good!  Maybe clothes!! hahahaha  Of  course!  I TRUST YOU!!!  YOU ALWAYS KNOW WHAT I NEED!!!  YOU ARE MY FAMILY, REMEMBER?????

….3….  Can you keep up with your companion when you run?
My companion loves to run..... End of story!!  She runs marathons and lives to run!  I, on the other hand, enjoy more to push people around and kick a ball in a net!!!  But I run cuz she loves it!  I can keep up with her usually!  (I told her not to slow down because I want to get faster!)  But we'll see how it turns out!!! hahahaha

….4….  Now that your mission has been open for over a year, have they actually set up a facebook page for Juarez yet?
I have a meeting with the President this weekend and his wife so I will ask if they have thought of having one!!!

….5…. Is there a Wal-Mart in Juarez?
There actually is a Wal-Mart!!!  Crazy huh!!??  I really don't know where it is or if it is like Wal-Mart, but yes indeed we do have a Wal-Mart!!  And do you remember when I sent you a picture of Costco??  Well, we and the other sisters in our Ward are going to go today!  Sister Ellsworth’s mom sent her a card!  SO we are going to go buy groceries for the whole month ;) hahahaha

….6…. How’s the BIG CITY?
It is a lot different being here in the big city!  I was so use to Casas that when I got here I felt like a fish out of wáter!  But I love it!!!!!  I love riding the buses and I love that there are a lot of people in the streets!!!  (Funny story... I can tell you now because it already happened!!)  A few weeks ago we got out of our district meeting which was about a half an hour away and we were planning on heading back on the bus because we had a lesson...  SO we asked the sisters what bus to take because we still are getting use to them and they told us and it was WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We ended up really really far away and in one of the sketchiest parts of Juarez!!  (There aren’t missionaries there.) hahaha  And we thought – ohhh - the bus will just turn around and take us back... well no... and we ended up having to get off the bus and find another one!!!  We were laughing so hard but really inside we were scared for our lives!!!  To end the story, we did make it home and safe... and we only have 2 tattoos!!!  I would say we are set for anything now!!!!  hahahahahah

But yup!  I am here, just another amazing week serving the Lord!  I love this work, I love this gospel, and I love that I am being tested and tried because I am so much stronger than when I started!!!  I love this!!  I feel completely blessed to be “HERMANA SUTTON”!!!

I love you all!  Have a great week!! (And maybe a pic or two of you guys one of these days!!!)

HERMANA SUUUUUUUUUUUTTON!!!!!!!!

p.s.  If you are looking for a great talk!!  Look up Elder Uchdorf  - “Grateful in any Circumstances”!!!
